Glossary: "N" terms

Nylon
A family of strong, flexible synthetic polymers, with a high degree of resistance to heat and chemicals, used in a wide variety of kitchen products. First introduced commercially in 1938 in toothbrush bristles, nylon was the material that spearheaded the plastic revolution in manufacturing during the past seventy years, replacing wood and metal as the material of choice in a multitude of areas.
